Guest Experience Coordinator

An exciting and rare opportunity has arisen to join the team at Gordon Castle Estate

We are looking for a proactive, enthusiastic, experienced and highly organised individual with a positive “can-do” attitude to join our busy estate team as Guest Experience Co-ordinator.

Gordon Castle Estate is a modern sporting estate comprising the exclusive-use Gordon Castle, five self-catering holiday cottages, weddings and events, as well as the Gordon Castle Highland Games and Country Fair. The Walled Garden operates as a separate business.

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) and will include occasional evening and weekend work. The successful candidate will report directly to the Events Manager.

The Role:
Working as part of the estate team, your responsibilities will include:
Responsible for co-ordinating the day-to-day operations of Gordon Castle and the holiday cottages (including occasional out-of-hours contact)

  • Recruitment and line-management of permanent and seasonal staff.
  • Responsible for internal and external booking systems.
  • Maintaining direct communication with lead guests and ensuring itineraries are coordinated and delivered to a high standard.
  • Responsible for co-ordinating inventories for the Castle and holiday cottages.
  • Assisting the Events Manager with the planning and delivery of weddings and events.
  • Work closely with the Estate Team to plan, coordinate and deliver the Gordon Castle Highland Games and Country Fair.
  • Organising and appointing third-party contractors for the Castle and holiday cottages.
  • Working alongside the Finance Manager to monitor income, expenditure and costs associated with the Castle and holiday cottages.
  • Providing general office administration and supporting the wider estate office with other duties as required.

Essential Experience

The successful candidate will have:

  • At least one year’s experience in people management.
  • At least one year’s experience in guest management.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • A proactive approach and the ability to work independently as well as part of a wider team.
  • A flexible attitude and willingness to work evenings and weekends when required.
  • Desirable Experience:
  • Experience in the following areas would be advantageous, although full training will be provided:
  • Events management
  • Weddings
  • Marketing and social media

Gardener

An exciting and rare opportunity has arisen to join the team at Gordon Castle Estate

We are looking for a reliable, practical and experienced Gardener to take responsibility for the ongoing care and maintenance of our gardens and outdoor areas, not including the Walled Garden.
The successful candidate will take pride in maintaining the grounds to an exceptionally high standard and will be comfortable working independently while managing a varied workload throughout the seasons.

Key responsibilities

  • General garden and grounds maintenance
  • Lawn care, including mowing, edging and feeding
  • Pruning and maintaining trees, shrubs, hedges and plants
  • Weeding, planting and maintaining flower beds and borders
  • Seasonal planting and garden preparation
  • Leaf clearance and general tidying of outdoor areas
  • Identifying and dealing with common plant, pest and disease issues
  • Safe use and basic maintenance of gardening tools and machinery
  • Helping to plan improvements and new planting where appropriate
  • Keeping the gardens and grounds attractive, tidy and well maintained throughout the year
  • Assisting with the set up for events such as Weddings and the Highland Games.
  • Daily checks and basic maintenance of machinery

About you

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has previous gardening or grounds maintenance experience
  • Has good practical knowledge of plants and general garden care
  • Is dependable, organised and able to work independently
  • Has excellent attention to detail and takes pride in their work
  • Is comfortable using a range of garden tools and machinery
  • Has a positive, flexible and practical approach

Relevant horticultural and industry qualifications would be an advantage, although practical experience and a genuine knowledge of gardening are equally important.

Location: Gordon Castle Estate, Fochabers, Moray, IV32 7PQ Hours: 40 hours per week.
Salary: Dependent on experience
Start date: As soon as possible
